Job Description:

ADEX is seeking a highly skilled Fiber Optic Technician to join our team. As a Fiber Optic Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing copper cable in various environments, including underground, aerial, and buried settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair copper cable in underground, aerial, and buried environments.
  • Troubleshoot problems requiring copper repair, maintenance, slicing, and faultfinding.
  • Splice existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial, and building work locations.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and specialty tools, including multi-meters, volt-ohm meters, and HST-3000.
  • Perform testing and turn-up of subscriber lines.
  • Locate and repair aerial and underground cable.
  • Locate, join, repair, and rearrange cable and cable equipment in buildings and aerial or buried plant.
  • Install, maintain, repair, and test residential/small business telecommunication service (POTS, Prism, Fiber, and DSL).
  • Connect wires and cables to terminals, frames, and attach/detach hardware to wires, cables, buildings, and poles.
  • Perform continuity and/or conformance testing.
  • Read and interpret customer service orders, technical drawings, maps, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Work with telecom color-coded wires and cables.
  • Interact with customers professionally and courteously via telephone or on the premises.
Requirements:
  • Ability to work well with others and independently in the field with little supervision.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and diagrams.
  • Knowledge of telecom color-coded wires and cables.
