Medical Records Coordinator

Job Summary
The Medical Records Specialist at Advanced Surgery Centers plays a vital role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain medical records operations by following policies and procedures, and reporting needed changes.
- Initiate medical records by searching master patient indexes, identifying existing patient records or assigning new numbers, interacting with registration areas and physicians' offices for information verification, and processing or creating record folders.
- Ensure medical record availability by routing records to admissions and emergency departments, physicians, and other authorized hospital staff, and maintaining chart location systems.
- Complete medical records by reviewing information, notifying healthcare providers of record deficiencies, and tracking outstanding records.
- Resolve medical record discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Maintain historical reference by abstracting and coding clinical data, such as diseases, operations, procedures, and therapies, using standard classification systems, and filing documents.
- Provide medical record information by answering questions and requests of patients, hospital staff, law firms, insurance companies, and government agencies.
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential, and following release-of-information protocols.
- Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Adhere to all Advanced Surgery Centers and departmental policies and procedures.
- Display regular and predictable attendance.
- Complete other job duties as assigned.

- Knowledgeable with Outlook, EMR systems, and computer savvy a plus.
