Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Adult Education Instructor to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As an Adult Education Instructor, you will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction to adult students in a correctional setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans to meet the needs of adult students
  • Provide individual and group instruction to adult students in basic adult education and GED preparation
  • Maintain accurate records and submit timely reports
  • Manage and supervise aides and students in a classroom setting
  • Ensure compliance with all Department of Corrections regulations and standards
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant educational field
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate other instructors and engage students in one-on-one teaching
  • Experience teaching adults and/or youth in a correctional or alternative education setting
  • Knowledge of policy and procedures governing adult education and correctional facility management
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and submit timely reports
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree with a major or minor in a relevant educational field
  • Experience in a correctional or alternative education setting
  • Knowledge and experience in correctional education classroom management
