Physician - Correctional Center Medical Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician to join our team as an Institutional Physician at the Beaumont Correctional Center. As a key member of our internal health services multidisciplinary team, you will operate a Doctor's Office Practice within the correctional center, providing professional medical care and medication management to inmates with assistance from nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical care and medication management to inmates, working closely with nursing staff to ensure comprehensive care.
- Analyze and interpret patients' histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses.
- Diagnose or treat acute health care problems, such as illnesses, infections, or injuries.
- Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost, as legally authorized.
- Assist with preparation and modification of treatment plans and recommend appropriate programs.
- Provide evidence-based health education to the inmate population.
- Graduation from an accredited medical college.
- Completion of an approved residency in a primary care specialty.
- Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Virginia.
- Board eligible or certified in a primary care specialty.
- Extensive knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mental illness and current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) diagnostic criteria.
- Knowledge of professional and ethical standards of practice and interventions appropriate for the assigned population.
- Ability to function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Experience providing medical care in a correctional setting.
