About the Role

Solventum is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Methods and Modeling Leader to join our Product Informatics and Modeling group in Central R&D. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing new mechanical bench test methods and in silico methods to support medical device product design and product change management programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead a team of mechanical and biomechanical engineers focused on method and model development and validation.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Supply Chain Continuity leadership and teams to ensure business needs and timelines are met.
  • Work across a center of excellence team for digital technologies in R&D to ensure integration of new approaches into mechanical method and modeling workflows.
  • Leverage strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and management skills to create momentum and deliver results in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, materials science with mechanics focus or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • ~7 years experience in mechanical method or model development in the medical device industry or other regulated industry.
  • ~3 years experience in people leadership of engineering teams in the medical device industry or other regulated industry with a mechanical method or modeling development focus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited institution with a computational focus.
  • ~10+ years of mechanical modeling and method development experience in medical device industry or related industries.
  • ~5 years experience people leadership of mechanical modeling or engineering teams in the medical device industry.
  • Project management experience leading the development of hard good, materials science, or device products within the medical device industry.
  • Scientific knowledge and experience in the development of test methods and models utilized in the development of medical devices under relevant regulations and standards applicable to medical device compliance.
