Senior Advanced Practice Provider for Intensive Care Unit

We are in search of a skilled Advanced Practice Provider to take on a leadership role within the Intensive Care Unit team at University Hospitals. This position entails a balance of clinical duties (80%) and administrative tasks (20%), which include staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and quality enhancement initiatives. A minimum of 3 years of experience in ICU care as an APP is strongly preferred, along with a background in mentoring and scheduling for new APPs. Acute Care certification is required for Nurse Practitioners.
The Senior Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for establishing a robust and sustainable framework for APP practice and development, ensuring that orientation programs are clear and accessible for all newly hired APPs at University Hospitals. The Senior APP aligns with professional credentialing standards and adheres to state and national regulations. This role supervises the daily operations of the APP service line(s).
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintains the required clinical practice standards in the APP role to uphold licensure.
- Attracts, develops, and retains a motivated workforce through effective HR recruitment strategies.
- Coordinates the mentoring and training of newly onboarded APPs while managing daily service-line scheduling.
- Acts as a bridge between APPs and leadership, facilitating the exchange of information, best practices, and outcomes.
- Contributes to the achievement of organizational and financial objectives in alignment with University Hospitals' Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Exhibits progressive leadership and effective supervision through active participation in the ongoing evaluation of APPs.
- Ensures adherence to regulatory standards.
- Pursues continuous improvement initiatives to enhance outcomes by refining processes, removing obstacles to success, and tracking progress in collaboration with medical and APP leadership.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to promote research and evidence-based practices.
- Participates in strategic planning and the execution of program growth and organizational change.
A Master of Science in Nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice from an accredited institution is required; or
A Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is mandatory.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as an APP with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
Acute Care certification is required for Nurse Practitioners.
