Instructor of Information Systems Technology

The Faculty of Information Systems Technology position provides high-quality instruction and maintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, with a major emphasis on teaching, supporting, and evaluating students. The faculty role provides instruction and monitors teaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by the Department Chairperson or other leadership members, in consultation with the Department Chairperson. The incumbent must exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask while engaging large groups of people with required and related materials.
Essential Job Functions- Teaches assigned courses as scheduled and assumes primary responsibility for and exercises oversight of the curriculum in conjunction with the Department's policies, ensuring both the rigor of programs and the quality of instruction. Designs curriculum embracing diversity, in all forms, to foster talent in students while modeling inclusive teaching strategies, with an understanding of the socio-cultural issues of traditionally underrepresented groups.
- Maintains attendance records, determines and submits grades timely, and in accordance with established policies and procedures of the College, and communicates progress feedback as well as other relevant information to students throughout the semester. Distributes and maintains accurate syllabi that incorporates departmental, college, cross-college, and instructor requirements. Conducts classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule. Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measure students' performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
- Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student efforts, academic challenges, student and faculty interactions, and support for learners. Uses technology to assist in communication with students. Encourages a sense of community among students for learning both inside and outside the classroom.
- Refers students to appropriate student and academic support services available at the College and/or in the community.
- Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
- Attend all department meetings and required trainings.
- Minimum Education: Master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in computer science with an emphasis in software development. At least two (2) years' experience working in software development and/or teaching/coaching/mentoring at any level. Professional experience programming in Java. Experience using the IntelliJ and/or Eclipse IDE's and with the following technologies: Windows, JUnit, JavaDoc, Git/GitHub, JDBC, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, JSON, Web Service API's, Postman API tool, Spring Boot, Thymeleaf Template Engine, H2 database, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Java concurrency, and Java full-stack development.
- Additional Information: Teaching experience will be a plus. Opportunities are available for teaching days, evenings, or weekends.
- Certifications in Java, Eclipse, Microsoft SQL Server, AWS, SQL Server Management Studio, JSON, REST, Postman, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Maven, H2, and Spring Boot 3 would be helpful.

- 9-Month Instructor Salary: $49,560-$55,507.20 Optional Summer Semester (Full load): $16,034.12-$17,958.21 Optional Overload (maximum amounts shown): Autumn Semester (12 contact hours max): $11,520 Spring Semester (12 contact hours max): $11,520 Summer Semester (9 contact hours max): $8,640
