Under the guidance of the Butler Medical Transport/Best Care Ambulance Leadership team, the Emergency Medical Technician plays a crucial role in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team, delivering medical assistance during both urgent and non-urgent transport situations.
The Emergency Medical Technician is tasked with evaluating patients' health conditions, providing advanced life support, and safely transporting individuals to healthcare facilities for additional treatment.
As vital members of the healthcare framework, Emergency Medical Technicians deliver essential care during critical situations, significantly influencing patient outcomes.
This position necessitates outstanding leadership skills, advanced training, and education, along with the capacity for rapid decision-making, empathy, and teamwork to ensure prompt and effective pre-hospital care.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver exceptional patient care within the Paramedic scope of practice.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to EMT and AEMT team members.
- Respond to both emergency and non-emergency transport requests.
- Facilitate effective communication with patients, dispatch, team members, family, and healthcare facility staff.
- Utilize communication devices such as portable radios, cell phones, and tablets.
- Complete patient contact documentation before the end of each shift.
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are maintained for operational readiness.
- Uphold cleanliness standards at the station.
- Maintain certifications through timely completion of refresher courses and continuing medical education.
- Stay updated on all state protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Represent Butler Medical Transport/Best Care Ambulance at community events as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 19 at the time of hire for insurance eligibility.
- Successful completion of National Registry Paramedic certification.
- Current National Registry Paramedic and State Paramedic certification (or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire).
- Current AHA BLS CPR certification or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire.
- Current AHA ACLS CPR certification or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire.
- Current AHA PALS CPR certification or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire.
- Familiarity with pumps, ventilators, and monitors used in EMS.
- Ability to deliver quality patient care within the Paramedic scope of practice.
- Knowledge of state protocols applicable to Paramedics.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Completion of a state-sponsored Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or ability to obtain within 90 days.
- Ability to pass a physical lift test.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Experience in leadership roles.
- Exceptional customer service abilities.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and patient care report writing.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
- Previous experience in Emergency Medical Services.
