Position Overview:

This role functions as the Financial Analyst for wildfire management, overseeing the Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) financial processes within the Forestry Division Office.

The incumbent will be tasked with coordinating and supervising all financial components of FEMA FMAG packages, conducting thorough analyses and audits of fire-related expenditures, and acting as a technical expert and liaison regarding FMAG financial matters for agency personnel and partners.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and prepare FMAG packages while providing consultation and expertise on the financial aspects of FEMA and Disaster and Emergency Service (DES) mitigation strategies.
  • Review and validate fire fiscal transactions by examining supporting documentation and applying relevant regulations.
  • Conduct final audits on equipment and service payment packages for the Department and interagency collaborators.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of internal spreadsheets and accounting systems to track fire program expenses and activities.
  • Direct and manage statewide fire contracting and procurement efforts to support local, state, and federal fire initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must possess education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field, along with at least one year of progressively responsible accounting experience. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

This position necessitates a solid understanding of governmental accounting and budgeting, business administration, contract management, procurement, recordkeeping, and technical writing. The role also requires proficiency in researching, interpreting, and analyzing information.


Special Information:

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. A valid driver's license is required, with fewer than 12 conviction points in the most recent completed 36 months.
