Position Title: Associate Professor, Nursing

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
Each faculty member is expected to instruct between 14 to 16 units per semester. Over a span of two consecutive years, an average of 30 units per year is anticipated. If additional administrative responsibilities are assigned beyond the standard workload, a reduction in class load may be granted by the Dean of Instruction. Faculty members are expected to be present in the classroom at least 50% of the time. The unit value may vary based on the commitment level of the team members. Large classes, typically defined as having 45 or more students, require prior approval from the Dean of Instruction.
Teaching Duties
- Clearly articulate course expectations to students at the start of each course, including course descriptions, syllabi, grading criteria, learning objectives, and attendance policies.
- Facilitate effective student learning through diverse assignments and class activities, employing various instructional strategies to cater to student needs, encourage active learning, and foster critical thinking.
- Demonstrate respect for students and respond attentively to their needs.
- Conduct classes punctually for the full duration, barring emergencies.
- Maintain accurate attendance and scholastic records, submitting necessary reports by established deadlines, including final grades.
- Teach evening classes as part of the regular load when assigned, and at least once every two years as per divisional needs.
- Deliver classes in alignment with the catalog and course objectives.
- Develop assessment methods for student learning as outlined in course objectives and provide timely feedback.
- Prepare and update classroom materials, including textbooks and audiovisual resources, adhering to established timelines.
- Fulfill administrative responsibilities as outlined in the administrative job description when assigned instead of a full teaching load.
- Engage in the development and implementation of strategies to assess student learning, focusing on overall educational outcomes and utilizing national or regional data for comparisons. Faculty members are expected to contribute to program or course modifications aimed at enhancing student learning where deficiencies are identified.
- Participate in approved learning outcomes assessment initiatives as required by the Division.
- Actively participate in meetings, stay informed, respond promptly to information requests, engage in commencement ceremonies and other significant institutional events, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and fulfill other essential institutional tasks, typically amounting to 60 hours annually.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience required.
Working Conditions
This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities.
