Experienced Fleet Maintenance Technician

Position Summary
The role involves conducting scheduled and preventive maintenance on production machinery, fleet vehicles, and specialized equipment. Responsibilities include repairing machinery and procuring necessary parts while maintaining accurate service and repair documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair fleet vehicle chassis along with specialized vehicle back-end systems, including tanks, pumps, and spray mechanisms.
- Conduct repairs on tractors, forklifts, small engines, and specialized equipment such as aerators, seeders, and spreaders.
- Ensure all repairs are accurately documented in an electronic maintenance management system.
- Maintain an organized parts inventory and work area.
- Coordinate and document outsourced maintenance services performed by external vendors.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies.
- Prepare and oversee the maintenance budget.
- Respond to breakdowns of vehicles and equipment in the field as required.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or GED, along with a minimum of five years of automotive mechanic experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. ASE Certification and/or completion of an Automotive Technology Program from an accredited institution is required.
Skills and Abilities
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer) is essential. Additionally, candidates should be able to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals, as well as possess strong mathematical skills for calculations. Attention to detail, effective verbal and written communication skills, and strong time management and organizational abilities are also necessary.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The physical demands of this position include the ability to sit, stand, and walk, as well as the use of hands and arms for handling and reaching. The candidate must be able to operate a vehicle with a valid driver's license and may occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 lbs. The work environment typically features low to moderate noise levels and minimal adverse conditions.
