The Certified Respiratory Care Specialist at Montefino Ventilator Training plays a vital role in delivering essential medical support to patients. Our specialists manage smaller patient loads, often focusing on individual care during their shifts. This enables them to utilize their expertise in a more personalized manner, significantly enhancing patient outcomes. Building strong relationships with patients, their families, and the healthcare team is crucial for fostering positive impacts on the patients' lives.
At Montefino, our specialists adhere to established protocols and provide oversight, care, and training to individuals with developmental disabilities. This role is critical in assisting patients with their daily living activities. Effective specialists are well-organized, possess strong analytical skills, and communicate clearly. They are knowledgeable about industry standards, relevant state and federal regulations, and associated organizations.
Successful candidates demonstrate enthusiasm for expanding their technical knowledge and advocating for their patients while maintaining professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Setting up and operating respiratory devices such as ventilators and aerosol generators according to treatment specifications.
- Providing emergency interventions, including artificial respiration and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Assessing treatment requirements, including therapy type, duration, and necessary precautions based on physician directives.
- Monitoring patients' physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs and blood gas levels, and consulting with physicians regarding any adverse reactions.
- Reading prescriptions and evaluating patient information to determine their condition.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to manage comprehensive patient care.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and adherence to physician orders.
- Maintaining accurate patient records that include identification and therapy details.
- Inspecting and maintaining respiratory therapy equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Educating patients and their families about their conditions and effective disease management techniques.
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients to foster cooperation and alleviate concerns.
- Assisting patients with breathing exercises and other therapeutic activities.
- Demonstrating respiratory care techniques to trainees and other healthcare staff.
- Making emergency visits to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Supervising residents during skills development activities.
- Creating and implementing individualized treatment plans for residents.
- Assisting with daily living tasks, including meal preparation and personal hygiene.
- Building rapport with residents to cultivate a safe and supportive environment.
- Updating resident case notes consistently.
- Ensuring appropriate staff-to-client ratios at all times.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Current Respiratory License/Credentials from an accredited body is essential.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is necessary.
- A genuine passion for providing care and a service-oriented mindset are crucial.
- Knowledge of best practices in the field, including oxygen delivery methods and sanitation procedures.
- Commitment to ongoing education to maintain current knowledge in the field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English.
- Capability to follow detailed instructions for care delivery and equipment use.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding technical documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and empathy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with standard office applications.
- Openness to constructive feedback.
- Availability for varying shift lengths, including weekends and holidays.
