Job Summary

Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in facilitating self-directed recovery for our clients. This rewarding opportunity will allow you to partner with other Chestnut staff and community organizations to advocate on behalf of our clients.


Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement treatment plans that structure activities and conversations to address barriers to recovery. Develop crisis plans to ensure our clients receive the necessary support. Maximize the use of available mental health services and supports to promote recovery.



Promote the recovery model of treatment, including trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness, and spirituality/connectedness.


Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and five years' supervised mental health experience; OR bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, education, psychology or related human service field; OR a bachelor's degree in any other field plus 2 years' supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting; OR certificate of psychiatric rehabilitation from a DHS-approved program plus a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years' experience in providing mental health services; OR Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) in good standing with the State of Illinois. Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor certification (CADC) in good standing with the state of Illinois or substance use experience is preferred. Valid driver's license, private automobile insurance and be insurable. Basic computer skills including MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and an electronic medical record (EMR).
