Position Description

The Environmental Studies minor program at John Muir College, UC San Diego, seeks an Instructor with teaching expertise in Environmental Studies across various disciplines, including natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and policy. A comprehensive list of courses available through the Environmental Studies minor can be accessed online.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can effectively integrate themes of environmental justice and climate change through a qualitative lens on natural sciences, as well as those who approach the concept of "wilderness" from Indigenous and decolonial viewpoints. Basic Qualifications (required at time of application)
  • ABD or terminal degree in Environmental Studies, Ecology, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience or capability to engage with a diverse academic community.
Additional Qualifications (required at time of start)
  • PhD or terminal degree in Environmental Studies, Ecology, or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year of teaching experience in Environmental Studies, Ecology, or related fields within a university context, covering a diverse range of perspectives including humanities, social sciences, policy, and natural sciences.
