Position Overview: This announcement is intended to recruit for Senior Clinical Psychologist roles within the educational sector, focusing on providing essential psychological services to students across various educational institutions as directed by the administrative office.
Compensation: The salary structure for this position is designed to ensure that new external candidates start at the initial step of the salary range. However, higher placement within the salary range may be considered based on unique qualifications, critical needs of the role, and available funding. Approval is required for such appointments. Current employees of the Hawaii State Department of Education will be compensated according to departmental guidelines.
Salary Range:
Clinical Psychologist V, SR-24: $5, $7,198.00 per month
Clinical Psychologist VI, SR-26: $6, $7,787.00 per month
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in professional activities related to the formulation and implementation of psychological theories, principles, and methodologies aimed at assessing and influencing individual behavior, particularly for those facing significant challenges in personality, social, and emotional adjustment.
- Deliver clinical psychology services with a high level of professional expertise.
- Provide psycho-diagnostic assessments, therapeutic interventions, and consultative support.
- Participate in prevention initiatives, training programs, and research activities.
- Some roles may involve overseeing other multidisciplinary professionals delivering program services in their areas of expertise.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
A. Completion of a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from an accredited institution, including an internship in clinical psychology. Alternatively, one year of relevant professional experience may substitute for the internship requirement.
B. Completion of a doctoral degree in a related specialty, with an internship in clinical psychology or supplemented by a post-doctoral clinical internship. One year of post-doctoral experience under competent supervision may substitute for the clinical internship requirement.
C. Possession of a doctoral degree from an APA-approved program or a regionally accredited institution, meeting the experiential criteria for inclusion in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.
D. Holding a diplomate certificate in good standing from the American Board of Examiners in Professional Psychology.
E. A valid license to practice psychology in the State of Hawaii.
For Clinical Psychologist VI roles, a minimum of one additional year of professional experience in clinical psychology, specifically involving psycho-diagnostic and therapeutic services for individuals with severe issues, is required.
Experience Quality: Merely possessing the required years of experience is insufficient; applicants must demonstrate a comprehensive scope and level of responsibility that confirms their capability to perform the duties associated with the position.
Licensing Requirement: Candidates hired must obtain a license issued by the Hawaii State Board of Psychology within two years of appointment.
Driver's License Requirement: Some positions may necessitate a valid driver's license.
Application Requirements: Applicants must fulfill all specified qualifications by the application date. Education and experience requirements cannot be obtained concurrently. Experience calculation is based on full-time, 40-hour workweeks.
Temporary Assignments: Claims of temporary assignment experience must be verified and submitted with the application.
Documentation: All relevant supporting documents must be attached to the application. Previously submitted documents do not automatically transfer to new applications.
