Position Overview
The Vice President of Construction within Arch Capital Group Ltd. is tasked with overseeing the technical evaluation and management of construction casualty programs within the Middle Market sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Evaluation
- Gather and assess new and renewal account data necessary for risk evaluation.
- Identify potential risks and exposures related to requested coverage and specific risk attributes.
- Underwrite, price, and formulate Casualty quote proposals based on both objective and subjective risk factors, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present final quotations/proposals to producers and prospective clients.
- Manage all administrative tasks associated with current and prospective accounts.
- Account Oversight
- Lead all post-binding activities, including policy issuance, compliance matters, audits, adjustments, and TPA coordination.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the delivery of promised service plans to clients.
- Oversee pre-renewal assessments and the renewal process to meet retention and rate objectives.
- Sales and Relationship Management
- Establish and nurture relationships with key agency personnel to ensure a steady flow of qualified submissions.
- Maintain relationships with key agency contacts and clients to achieve overall production and profitability targets.
- Devise a strategic approach for positioning and promoting Arch at both the agency and client levels.
- Engage and introduce relevant team members or management as necessary.
- Administrative Duties
- Ensure comprehensive documentation for all underwriting and policy files.
- Complete special projects as required to improve efficiency and productivity.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
- CPCU or CRIS designation is advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of Workers Compensation, General Liability, Automobile, and Excess coverage forms and endorsements.
- Knowledge of risk identification and analysis, as well as the fundamentals of guaranteed cost and small deductible underwriting.
- Possess a broad understanding of related disciplines, including claims, risk management, auditing, premium accounting, reinsurance, finance, and legal aspects.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance issues in the casualty sector.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong presentation abilities.
- Proficient in sales and negotiation techniques.
- Able to influence and support team members effectively.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks concurrently.
- Willingness to travel to foster and maintain relationships within the designated territory.
