Job Summary

As a Peer Support Specialist at Maine Medical Center, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in the community, providing one-on-one support and group facilitation in various topics related to mental health and wellness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create a safe and secure space for individuals to discuss their thoughts and feelings
  • Develop and implement positive strategies to support mental health
  • Build and practice healthy relationship skills
  • Develop training materials and provide education to the multidisciplinary team
  • Initiate and track outreach efforts, develop peer support relationships, and help carry out outreach and engagement activities
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Completion of or ability to complete relevant training, such as the State of Maine Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist (CIPSS) Certification
  • Valid driving license and reliable transportation
  • Experience providing one-on-one and/or group facilitation peer support preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed
