Job Responsibilities

  • Organizes and prepares the workspace with all essential supplies and tools.
  • Receives and inspects food items, ensuring quality and freshness through proper rotation.
  • Prepares and stores raw ingredients in accordance with safety standards.
  • Utilizes standardized recipes for the preparation and cooking of menu offerings.
  • Adheres to portion control standards to minimize waste.
  • Presents cold dishes following established plating guidelines.
  • Monitors the finished dishes to ensure timely service and communicates any delays to supervisors.
  • Ensures high-quality food is prepared and served promptly.
  • Complies with all food safety regulations consistently.
  • Monitors refrigeration and holding temperatures, maintaining cleanliness of work surfaces and practicing frequent handwashing.
  • Operates kitchen equipment safely, following manufacturer guidelines.
  • Reports any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
  • Informs the steward of the need for clean dishes and utensils.
  • Returns cooking tools to the washing area and notifies the steward of any hot items.
  • Cleans and organizes the workspace, returning unused ingredients to their proper storage at the end of the shift.
  • Completes all closing tasks, ensuring cooking equipment is turned off and the kitchen is secure.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Culinary training or certification from a recognized institution plus one year of experience in a high-volume hotel or restaurant setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food service sanitation standards.
  • Strong understanding of standard kitchen equipment and its operation.
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
