Position Overview:
Join the Department of Veterans Affairs as a full-time staff pathologist, specializing in Anatomic Pathology (AP) and Clinical Pathology (CP). This role includes responsibilities as the Technical Director of the Microbiology Lab, requiring expertise in Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology, and Clinical Microbiology.

Key Responsibilities:
As a board-certified pathologist, you will:
  • Conduct Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology case reviews.
  • Participate in principal tumor boards.
  • Oversee laboratory operations in the Microbiology lab.
  • Engage in teaching, research, and clinical activities in collaboration with esteemed academic affiliates.

Academic Opportunities:
There is potential for an academic appointment at one of our affiliated institutions, depending on your experience and qualifications.

Collaborative Environment:
You will be part of a supportive team of 10 experienced pathologists, working within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service, which operates across multiple locations.

Laboratory Services:
The Anatomic Pathology Division includes:
  • Surgical Pathology
  • Cytopathology
  • Dermatopathology
  • Hematopathology
  • Neuropathology
  • Autopsy
  • Histology and Immunohistochemistry labs

The Clinical Pathology Division encompasses:
  • Blood Bank
  • Chemistry and Toxicology
  • Flow Cytometry
  • Hematology
  • Immunology
  • Microbiology
  • Point of Care testing

Work Schedule:
Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:
  • A Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent.
  • A full and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited specialty program.

Additional Information:
Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is mandatory for all health care personnel. Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination requirements is also necessary.
