Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join our team at General Dynamics Information Technology. As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems and infrastructure for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expertise in Microsoft's SCCM/MECM and leverage it to provide security patches, vulnerability patches, hotfixes, and other updates to user workstations and servers.
  • Administer SCCM software delivery, including various methods such as running advertised programs, machine-targeted, user-targeted, Application Library, and Software Center.
  • Manage and administer SCCM client health, including the process of getting clients healthy.
  • Provide expertise with PowerShell for custom reporting.
  • Develop advanced technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures.
  • Troubleshoot highly complex system hardware and software issues.
  • Develop training materials for end users on the proper use of hardware and software.
  • Develop implementation plans for software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Perform In-Place Upgrades as needed for servers and laptops.
  • Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensure workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.
  • Lead efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  • Conduct advanced hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Develop performance and security plans for computers that meet the needs of network users.
  • Evaluate existing systems and plan long-term strategies.
  • Coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals.
  • Serve as a team or task lead as needed.
Requirements:
  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or other related scientific or technical discipline required.
  • MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related disciplines preferred.
  • 17+ years of related experience.
  • DoD 8140/8570 IAT II compliance.
  • Active Top Secret with a T5 or T5R within the last 5 years.
  • Strong oral and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to convey conceptual ideas both written and verbally.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Server 2022 preferred.
