Job Summary

As a Veh Equipment Mechanic - 1st Class at SEPTA, you will be responsible for the diagnosis and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubles in diesel and gasoline engines, clutches, transmissions, refrigeration units, and other automotive equipment. You will also perform related duties under the general supervision of the foreperson.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubles in diesel and gasoline engines, clutches, transmissions, refrigeration units, and other automotive equipment.
  • Perform related duties under the general supervision of the foreperson.
  • Test, diagnose, and repair air conditioning systems and units, including mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration components and piping.
  • Check, adjust, repair, replace, and clean evaporator core filters, compressors, expansion valves, and other electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical controls.
  • Direct the activities of employees of lesser classifications as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must satisfactorily complete written qualification tests and performance tests.
  • Must possess a valid CDL driver's license.
  • Must possess tools pertinent to the occupation.

Additional Information

This position requires a high level of mechanical aptitude and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of diesel and gasoline engines, as well as experience with air conditioning systems and units.
