About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technologist III or Senior SCADA Engineering Technologist to join our team at Duke Energy. This is a career-level position that requires advanced technical expertise and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide data and controls to System Operators for situational awareness of the Bulk Power System through alarming and analog readings.
  • Develop baselines and I/O summaries for existing and new substations according to Duke Energy Florida (DEF) standards and configuration templates.
  • Create RTU configurations and Point Assignment Sheet (PAS) with CONITEL protocol to support Analog SCADA communication system per DEF configuration and templates.
  • Setup, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of SCADA systems.
  • Testing of equipment to ensure functionality with DEF system.
  • Developing solutions and mitigation plans during testing of new equipment and existing equipment installed on the DEF system.
  • Providing the appropriate information necessary to complete capital projects on time and accurate.
  • Assist in data retrieval for remotely connected devices.
  • Interface with Transmission Compliance Coordination to ensure Florida P&C Engineering documentation is accurate and implemented correctly.
  • Responsible for oversight on NERC-CIP v5 and IT 503, etc. as it pertains to P&C SCADA Engineering.
Requirements
  • Engineering Technologist III:
    • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND five (5) years minimum of related experience OR
    • Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND three (3) years minimum of related experience
    • In lieu of degree, high school diploma/GED AND nine (9) years minimum of related experience.
  • SR SCADA Engineering Technologist:
    • Either 6+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or
    • 8+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or
    • 12+ years equivalent experience without a degree.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in creating Analog RTU configurations, Point Assignment Sheet (PAS) and troubleshooting for systems based on CONITEL protocol.
    • Experience in creating RTU configurations, Point Assignment Sheet and troubleshooting for systems based on IP network.
    • Familiarity with NERC CIP compliance procedures related to Electronic Security Perimeter requirements and regulations.
