Job Summary

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Special Procedure Technician to join our team. As a key member of our sleep disorder laboratory, you will be responsible for carrying out technical duties under the supervision of the medical director and/or administrator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment for testing to ensure proper functioning and adjust as necessary.
  • Document routine observations, changes in procedure, and significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
  • Monitor study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free and adjust, if necessary.
  • Implement appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic interventions.
  • Perform different and unusual procedures and therapeutic interventions as indicated based on information collected during the study.
  • Clean and sterilize all equipment.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork for documentation and billing.
  • Maintain inventory.
  • Score sleep study records according to standard scoring rules.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED required, Associate's Degree preferred.
  • NY State License or work permit as polysomnographer.
  • Minimum 6 months work experience preferred.
  • Maintain CPR/BCLS certification.
  • Board Certification of Polysomnographer (RPSGT), or obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • Knowledge of home sleep study devices and polysomnography machine in conjunction with EEG, EOG, EKG, motion sensors, respiration monitors, and other physiological activities.
