Job Overview:
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will evaluate needs, devise strategies, and implement evidence-based interventions for students with communication challenges across various educational environments, including both general and specialized classrooms, as well as community settings.

Role Summary:

The SLP will work with students who may present with isolated speech sound issues or more complex disabilities. The therapist must be skilled in applying and documenting diverse strategies and utilizing multiple service delivery models to improve communicative abilities.

Services offered by the SLP encompass assessment and intervention in areas such as speech sound disorders, voice, language, pragmatics, fluency, literacy (phonology), augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and dysphagia. Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational capabilities. Bilingual applicants are highly encouraged to apply.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize a wide range of assessment techniques and analytical skills.
  • Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Gather and evaluate data for monitoring student progress.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams on district initiatives.
  • Exhibit high-level organizational and time management skills.
  • Employ strategic thinking in service delivery to students.

Supervisory Duties:
This role does not entail any supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use their hands. The employee frequently needs to walk, reach with hands and arms, and communicate verbally or audibly.

Employees may be required to stand for extended periods, as well as climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 25 pounds may be necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Position Type:
This is a full-time position, with a commitment of 193 days, in various locations throughout the designated area. The hours are based on a 7.5-hour workday, with specific hours determined by the assignment in elementary, middle, or high school settings, or in various community educational environments.

Travel Requirements:

Travel is contingent upon the assignment and will be reimbursed according to current IRS guidelines and rates.


Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education in Speech-Language Impaired PK-12 is mandatory.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is required.
  • License to practice Speech-Language Pathology issued by the PA Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs is preferred.
  • Strong Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates will be considered for Long Term Substitute positions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Comprehensive understanding of current Pennsylvania and Federal Special Education Regulations.
  • Clinical proficiency to address a wide range of communicative needs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with computer technology and Augmentative-Alternative Communication.
  • Adherence to health, safety, and confidentiality regulations.
