Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join our team at the Carlisle Area School District. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and promoting health and wellness in our schools.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and perform state-mandated health and wellness screenings for students.
  • Provide care for students who are ill or injured, chart daily care, and record all care provided.
  • Maintain comprehensive health records on all students.
  • Organize and assist the physician and dentist with state-mandated physical exams.
  • Serve as a resource for classroom teachers and the community regarding health and wellness education.
  • Administer medication according to school district policy.
  • Order supplies and maintain an inventory for each health room.
  • Complete and submit all reports requested by the PA Department of Health and/or the district.
  • Serve as a member on the Student Assistance Team and the Code Blue Team.
  • Locate families and communicate health care needs of students.
  • Write individual health care plans and/or sections of individual education plans, as necessary.
  • Provide health immunization clinics as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse
  • Valid CPR certificate
  • Submission of pre-employment medical examination
  • Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police
  • Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare
  • Submission of the Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form

Work Environment:

The typical nursing office environment may expose you to hazardous materials, body fluids, or disease.

Temperament:

You must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to make judgments and work under high levels of stress.

Cognitive Ability:

You must be able to communicate effectively, organize tasks, handle multiple tasks, and exercise good judgment.

  • Ability to operate various school/office equipment
  • Must appropriately handle confidential information
