Electrical Engineer Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in designing and engineering impactful water systems projects. As a licensed professional, you will be responsible for applying detailed electrical engineering knowledge to size, evaluate, select, and specify electrical systems for use on assigned projects in accordance with relevant codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, specify, and review shop drawings for electrical systems and products for a project.
  • Develop designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Utilize technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of electrical systems.
  • Prepare and revise documentation in various phases of design and construction, including plans, single line diagrams, ladder control schematics, equipment layouts, and details.
  • Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner, and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
  • Prepare and coordinate project specifications with construction documents.
  • Conduct reviews required to assess field conditions.
  • Conduct construction phase services, respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and conduct reviews of construction for general conformance with design.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of industry standards as well as electrical and building codes.
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications, specifically in the municipal water/wastewater industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, the National Electrical Code, California Title 24, means and methods, materials, and industry standards, particularly related to the water/wastewater industry.
  • Participates and collaborates in project team settings and engages in creative and critical thought.
  • Understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Very strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, and interview skills.
  • Well-versed understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, and AutoDesk products (i.e. AutoCAD) and/or Bentley products (i.e. Microstation). Familiarity with Revit is an asset.
  • Experience with specialized power system software such as ETAP and/or SKM PowerTools is an asset.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience.
