Position Summary:

The Lead Formulation Scientist plays a crucial role in the complete process of product formulation, from initial concept to final product. This position is focused on innovating new offerings and managing the development and reformulation of products within the hair care segment. The ideal candidate will showcase expertise in formulation and innovation specific to hair care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative formulas and enhance existing products under the guidance of management.
  • Conduct stability assessments, including monitoring physical stability and packaging compatibility, while maintaining detailed records for review.
  • Coordinate with testers to submit samples and secure necessary approvals.
  • Prepare Product Technical Information (PTI) for all approved formulations, including comprehensive documentation such as formulas, processes, specifications, and stability reports.
  • Participate in manufacturing trials, collaborating closely with the Technical team.
  • Adhere to project budgets and timelines, ensuring compliance with the new product development process.
  • Track project milestones to ensure objectives are met efficiently.
  • Research and assess new raw materials for potential future projects.
  • Engage with raw material suppliers and industry representatives to deepen understanding of their products and technologies.
  • Monitor competitor patents and liaise with the Legal team to pursue patent applications as necessary.
  • Collaborate with external research organizations to advance new technologies for integration into the R&D department.
  • Stay informed on industry literature relevant to new assignments and technologies.
  • Initiate continuous improvement strategies as required.

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will possess a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, along with 5 to 10 years of laboratory experience in hair care cosmetic formulation and product development. Key attributes include:

  • A strong scientific foundation and curiosity, with a preference for hands-on laboratory work.
  • The ability to apply a diverse range of analytical techniques to meet R&D needs.
  • A passion for innovative thinking and the development of new ideas for the product pipeline.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
