This is a contract job opportunity with potential for permanent placement. The position is located in Novi, MI, and the schedule is Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5:30 PM, with no weekends.
Job SummaryThe main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities- Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
- Properly explains the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection to patients.
- Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order.
- Packages specimens for transport.
- Stores specimen samples according to required temperature.
- Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attends annual department trainings.
- Answers telephone calls and reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where employed.
- Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
