Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items from scratch or using convenience products, following standardized recipes and guidelines.
  • Organize and assemble food items for patient, cafeteria, and special function accounts, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  • Cook using standardized recipes and techniques, with attention to detail and quality.
  • Creatively utilize leftovers to minimize waste and decrease food costs.
  • Prepare quantities of food indicated on computerized production sheets and special function lists.
  • Pull needed meats, eggs, and vegetables from the freezer in advance of production, and slice or bread meats as needed.
  • Bake, steam, and fry food items in advance, and pre-prep items for the next day's menus.
Technical and Safety Requirements
  • Correctly operate department equipment, including ovens, hot food carts, scales, fryers, mixers, grill/stove, tilt skillet, blenders, steamers, broilers, meat slicers, buffalo chopper, tilt steam kettles, and thermometers.
  • Clean and restock dishes, food, and supplies during hours of operation, as assigned.
  • Practice HACCP guidelines for food handling and maintain a sanitary and safe food environment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to a supervisor, and monitor and record temperatures, utilizing safe food handling techniques.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work station, and practice clean-as-you-go techniques throughout the shift.
Qualifications
  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Less than one year of experience in food preparation and service.
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification (training provided).
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to work independently.
