Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform blood draws, accurately label specimens, centrifuge samples, and maintain detailed records.
  • Collect and manage specimens in accordance with established protocols.
  • Clearly communicate the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods to patients.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using both straight and butterfly needles.
  • Thoroughly comprehend and execute all physician orders.
  • Ensure laboratory requisition forms are correctly matched with specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, and prepare specimens for testing as per the order requirements.
  • Verify all test requisitions or computer labels for accuracy.
  • Package specimens appropriately for transportation.
  • Store samples at required temperatures and ensure proper labeling and handling to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Adhere to OSHA and DEP regulations diligently.
  • Participate in annual training sessions within the department.
  • Respond to inquiries by reading laboratory results over the phone.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Current Phlebotomy certification (National/State Certification)
  • Experience working with pediatric patients, oncology patients, and individuals with a history of substance use
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in performing venipunctures in a dynamic laboratory or hospital environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.

This is a mobile position covering various locations. Mileage will be reimbursed.

Flexibility to work varying hours is required.
