Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented Control Systems Designer to join our team at Applied Resource Group. This role is crucial for the development and implementation of control systems in various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed drawings and documentation tailored to specific projects, adhering to established standards and protocols.
  • Offer technical assistance to both internal staff and external clients as needed.
  • Support the training of control panel assembly technicians and apprentices under the guidance of the department manager.
  • Help in organizing and overseeing project components and inventory within the panel shop.
  • Compile material lists for procurement based on project requirements for the purchasing manager.
  • Keep the department manager updated on the progress and any challenges faced during the control design and assembly phases.
  • Ensure all departmental checklists and documentation are updated promptly.
  • Conduct pre-job assessments and complete the necessary screening forms.
  • Review any available sales or customer communications against the working quote.
  • Notify the supervisor of any significant cost or design inconsistencies.
  • Procure long lead-time items as early as possible.
  • Create schematic or wiring diagrams as dictated by project needs.
  • Generate comprehensive bills of materials for control panel assembly.
  • Issue orders for outstanding job components.
  • Develop layout diagrams for panel assembly.
  • Provide detailed terminal strip drawings for all control enclosures and junction boxes.
  • Design festoons/E-Chain and arrange for all necessary materials.
  • Complete assembly diagrams as required.
  • Order any materials not typically maintained in inventory.
  • Evaluate runway conductor and current collector specifications and release orders for these materials.
  • Deliver as-built drawings for completed projects.
  • Ensure all relevant design materials are copied to the appropriate directories and stored on the main server.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing industrial motor control systems.
  • Experience in the overhead crane industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical products.
  • Knowledge of AC and DC motors.
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives.
  • Understanding of relevant NEC and UL standards and procedures.
  • Background in general manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design, particularly with AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

This is a permanent position with compensation commensurate with experience.
