Role and Responsibilities
The Master Scheduler at Evantic plays a crucial role in crafting, assessing, and sustaining the overarching production timetable. This position is essential for balancing production loads, aligning with our Make to Order and Make to Stock methodologies, and initiating production orders into Work In Progress (WIP). Daily collaboration with production teams is vital to ensure that lead times, on-time delivery (OTD), inventory levels, and customer requirements are consistently met.
- Master Production Schedule Development: Formulates, disseminates, and updates the Master Production Schedule, ensuring a balance between inventory, resources, and capacity. Engages in negotiations for corrective measures to adjust production timelines as business needs evolve.
- Capacity Tool Collaboration: Partners with the engineering team to establish and maintain a capacity management tool that provides transparency regarding output limitations and aids the sales team in the quoting process.
- Sales Forecast Analysis: Evaluates sales forecasts and historical shipment data to devise a production strategy for each product line that aligns with revenue targets while minimizing inventory risks.
- Risk Identification: Recognizes potential risks associated with the production plan, considering factors such as expedited orders, sales trends, and inventory levels.
- Cross-Departmental Coordination: Works closely with Manufacturing, Sales, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, and Customer Service to implement the operational strategy effectively.
- Communication of Schedules: Ensures clear communication of both master and machine-level schedules to the production work centers.
- Procedure Development: Creates and revises scheduling procedures as necessary, ensuring they remain relevant and effective.
- Work Order Management: Executes the scheduling and release of work orders to various departments.
- Supply Chain Communication: Clearly articulates customer demands to the Supply Chain team to guarantee the timely provision of necessary manufacturing materials and supplies.
- Supply Level Analysis: Monitors supply levels against demand requirements monthly and communicates any discrepancies to the supply chain.
- Inventory Monitoring: Oversees Kanban and safety stock levels, ensuring they are adjusted to meet demand fluctuations.
- Software Maintenance: Keeps the Master Planning Schedule software updated with relevant configurations to facilitate effective planning across all locations.
- Lead Time Communication: Communicates lead times to sales, customer experience, and operations teams by product category.
- Planning Department Supervision: Directly oversees and develops the Planning department to ensure that released jobs progress according to schedule, facilitating on-time delivery, and collaborates with Customer Service to maintain order accuracy and accommodate scheduling changes.
- MRP and Planning Resolution: Collaborates with the Supply Chain team to address MRP and planning challenges.
- Operational Solutions: Works with the operations team to devise solutions for constraints affecting the master schedule and achieving OTD objectives.
- Finished Goods Management: Maintains finished goods at target levels, assisting in achieving inventory turnover goals.
- Customer Interface: Acts as the primary contact for customers regarding delivery, stocking, and lead-time discussions.
Qualifications, Skills and Educational Requirements
• A Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred; a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required.
• A minimum of 7 years of direct scheduling experience utilizing MRP and MPS software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment, dedication, and self-motivation, taking full ownership of assigned projects or tasks.
Physical Activities
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is:
- Continually required to stand or walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. Regularly required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
