Role Summary:
Responsible for delivering exceptional ophthalmic services, emphasizing patient support and education.
Key Responsibilities:
• Adheres to the established OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Possesses a comprehensive understanding of ocular anatomy and demonstrates proficiency in scribing for physicians.
• Assists the physician in patient care with professionalism, gathering patient histories, and providing educational support.
• Conducts technical assessments including visual acuity, lensometry, color vision, visual field evaluations (Humphrey and Goldman), manual keratometry, refraction, Amslers, muscle testing, topography, pupil examinations, OCT, pachymetry, and other specialized tests as directed by the physician.
• Executes advanced technical assessments such as retinoscopy and A-Scans under physician guidance.
• Complies with physician protocols for A-Scans and assists in Special Testing as required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma is mandatory.
- Completion of an accredited Vision program is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an Ophthalmology clinic setting is required.
- BLS certification is necessary.
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) credential from IJCAHPO is required.
- Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) is preferred.
