Job Summary:

As an Ophthalmic Assistant Certified at Christus Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and education in an ophthalmology clinic setting. Your expertise will be essential in performing advanced technical workups, including visual acuity, lensometry, and other special testing as directed by physicians.

Responsibilities:

• Perform high-quality ophthalmic procedures, focusing on patient care and education.

• Meet expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.

• Assist the doctor in patient care, collecting patient history, and performing patient education.

• Perform technical workups, including visual acuity, lensometry, color vision, visual field tests, manual keratometry, refraction, Amslers, muscle testing, topography, pupil exams, OCT, pachymetry, and other special testing as directed by physician.

• Follow physician protocol for A-Scans and fill in at Special Testing when needed.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma required.

• Graduate of accredited Vision program preferred.

• 1 year of experience working at an Ophthalmology clinic setting required.

• BLS required.

• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from IJCAHPO required.

• Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) preferred.
