About the Position

The City of Edmond is seeking a skilled Mechanic II to join our Vehicle Maintenance Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing complex maintenance and repair tasks on gasoline and diesel driven automotive and related equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and Diagnose complex mechanical problems to determine the most effective course of action.
  • Tune Up Engines and replace ignition parts, clean parts, and make adjustments as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Inspect and Adjust necessary units and related parts, including internal and external engine work.
  • Make Needed Repairs and check fluid levels, perform oil changes, and maintain work, time, and material records.
  • Perform On-the-Road Repairs safely and independently, instructing less experienced employees in proper procedures and techniques.
  • Maintain Shop Cleanliness and repair service equipment, change tires, and perform stand-by and call back duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Valid Class B Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License with required endorsements.
  • Driving Record Acceptable to the City's insurance carrier.
Necessary Skills
  • Strong Mathematical Ability and strong written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to Meet Physical Standards and pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings.
