Golf Course Starter and Ranger

Role Summary: Support the golf shop in various capacities.
Key Responsibilities:
Starter Duties:
- Welcome guests to the Naval Academy Golf Association.
- Ensure all players are registered and possess a receipt for play at the first tee.
- Verify that golfers are dressed appropriately, have their own clubs, and are wearing non-metal spikes.
- Provide an overview of the day's conditions and any special requests to each group.
- Monitor the starting rotation to prevent delays.
- Maintain proper tee time intervals to avoid congestion on the course.
- Pair up players efficiently to enhance course flow.
- Assist the golf shop staff in organizing and managing special events and outings.
- Oversee play as it progresses past the starter's area towards the eighth tee.
- Ensure a sufficient supply of scorecards and pencils is available at the starter's location.
- Maintain constant radio communication with the golf shop for operational effectiveness.
Ranger Duties:
- Ensure adherence to pace of play and enforce golf course regulations.
- Ensure carts remain at least 30 feet from all tees and greens, following traffic signage.
- Enforce daily play restrictions as necessary.
- Limit cart occupancy to two riders and two golf bags.
- Prohibit unlicensed children from operating golf carts.
- Remind players to repair divots and ball marks on greens.
- Assist in locating lost balls and maintain the flow of play.
- Ensure children under 12 are accompanied by an adult and manage play during busy times.
- Allow fivesomes only with prior approval from professional staff.
- Ensure non-playing observers do not interfere with play.
- Maintain continuous radio contact with the starter and golf shop.
Additional Requirements:
- Familiarity with the fundamentals of golf to avoid disrupting players.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold.
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Follow instructions and directives from supervisors.
May be required to engage in activities such as bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and grasping for extended periods. The role may involve lifting weights up to 85 lbs occasionally and up to 50 lbs frequently.
