Healthcare Receptionist Position

Samaritan Healthcare is seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Receptionist to support various departments. As a receptionist, you will provide exceptional customer service, greet patients in a professional and friendly manner, verify insurance information, receive payments, and coordinate patient flow through a schedule of appointments.

A successful team member provides services that enhance the patients' experience when seeking services at Samaritan Healthcare. Experience in a healthcare setting with answering telephones, scheduling, medical billing/insurance, and bookkeeping is preferred.

This is a per diem position, working various hours per week.

Extra Incentive:

In lieu of benefits, receive an additional 12% differential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Service: Ensure all incoming calls are promptly and courteously answered and patients are assisted in a friendly, professional manner. When appropriate, direct the caller to the specified staff member, department, or medical practice. Patients presenting in person for appointment or other business are to be greeted in the same professional, accommodating approach.
  2. Scheduling: Responsible for scheduling appointments for patients to meet with providers and maintain knowledge of provider preference in how patients are scheduled in the system ensuring a successful patient/provider encounter.
  3. Medical Chart Management: Pull/file medical charts for patient visits.
  4. Communication: Responsible for routing all clinical scope of practice questions, faxes, and requests to the appropriate nursing staffing, including prescriptions, test results, new requests, medicine dispensed at schools, lab slips, etc.
  5. Documentation: Ensure all forms, letters of non-coverage, questionnaires, and other applicable documentation are completed and signed by the patient.

Position Qualifications:

  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalency.
  2. Experience: Minimum of two years secretarial/bookkeeping experience.
  3. Computer Skills: Some computer experience preferred (MS Word, Excel, and Internet skills).
  4. Medical Insurance Billing: Experience with medical insurance billing.
  5. Certification: Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.
