Position Overview

The Aerospace Precision Assembly Specialist is responsible for the meticulous assembly of various structural, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanically actuated component sub-assemblies. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality, ensuring that all components meet aerospace standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute the assembly of hydraulic components with precision.
  • Assemble structural components adhering to strict aerospace specifications.
  • Perform precision drilling and install close tolerance fasteners, including helicoil and keensert installations/removals.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate design concepts, providing constructive feedback to enhance assembly processes and support development testing.
  • Review, modify, and adhere to work instructions for assembly tasks.
  • Plan and communicate assembly procedures for intricate mechanical installations.
  • Safely manage hazardous systems that may involve chemicals or high-pressure environments.
Qualifications
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in precision assembly.
  • Expertise in drilling and preparing close tolerance holes for structural assembly and fastener installation.
  • Ability to document and maintain precise records, ensuring strict adherence to procedures, as well as the capability to read technical drawings and prints.
  • Proficient in using standard tools and basic fabrication equipment.
  • Experience in assembling and troubleshooting aerospace or military hardware.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with standard mechanical tools and fabrication shop equipment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to foster trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Physical capability to climb ladders and stairs, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the assembly of launch vehicles or propulsion systems and vehicle integration.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace or related industries.
  • A&P license or equivalent experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and integration.
  • Knowledge of pressurized system safety protocols for pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts in proximity to flight-critical hardware.
  • Familiarity with 3D measurement tools and software such as Spatial Analyzer or Verisurf.
  • Working knowledge of various rocket propellants, including hydrogen peroxide, RP, and cryogenics.
  • Proficient in the use of 3D CAD tools (preferably CREO) and the ability to interpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standards.
