Role Overview
The Food Services Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the culinary team within a diverse and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute assigned cleaning duties as instructed; ensure a hygienic dishwashing area and kitchen environment.
- Assist in processing supply requests to prepare class carts for culinary sessions.
- Engage in cashiering duties during regular operations and special events.
- Receive and verify deliveries from suppliers; organize products in designated storage spaces.
- Maintain a safe workspace, free from hazards; adhere to safety protocols and utilize safety equipment appropriately.
- Operate a three-sink washing system and automatic dishwasher in compliance with health standards.
- Organize and shelve clean dishes promptly to uphold an orderly kitchen.
- Perform additional tasks as required, including basic food handling and setup for culinary functions.
- Adhere to the dress code of black or denim pants and black, non-slip, closed-toe footwear.
- Availability to work extra hours as needed.
- Understanding of and ability to follow health department regulations.
- Capability to read and comprehend common documents and labels, including schedules and supply labels.
- Effective communication skills with customers.
- Basic math skills for inventory management and cashiering tasks.
- Ability to interpret supply requests for class preparations.
- Knowledge of the workflow for managing dirty and clean dishes to avoid cross-contamination.
- Competence in stocking and unloading deliveries.
- Physical stamina to perform duties while standing and walking for extended periods, including the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
