Position Overview

The Heart and Vascular Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock is in search of a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) with a keen interest in general cardiology. While two years of experience is preferred, we are open to training a motivated new graduate or an individual with relevant nursing experience.

This role offers the chance to collaborate with a diverse team of physicians and APPs, engaging with innovative cardiology subspecialties, including Electrophysiology, Heart Failure, Pulmonary Hypertension, and Interventional and Structural Heart teams.

Key Responsibilities

The APP will be involved in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings, focusing on delivering and coordinating high-quality care for cardiac patients and their families as part of a multidisciplinary team, supported by a staff cardiologist. Responsibilities include:

  • Assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex and acute cardiac conditions.
  • Triage of cardiac patients at community hospitals for transfer to a tertiary care center.
  • Management of chronic cardiac conditions.
  • Acting as a patient advocate to ensure comprehensive care for patients and their families.

Additional Duties

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the position includes a teaching component and participation in quality improvement initiatives. Opportunities for academic appointment and advancement are available for motivated providers, given the affiliation with the Dartmouth Institute and Geisel School of Medicine.

Work Schedule

Primary working hours are between 7 AM and 5:30 PM, with some flexibility based on daily responsibilities. Rotating weekend and holiday coverage is required, with a minimum of one weekend every four weeks.

Qualifications

  • National Certification from an approved certifying body.
  • Eligibility for APRN or PA-C licensure in the State of New Hampshire.
  • Eligibility for Federal DEA registration.
  • Maintenance of additional certifications as per departmental requirements.
