Job Title: Data Scientist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team at Digital Prospectors. As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing predictive models and data analysis techniques to drive improvements in student success. If you have a strong background in statistical analysis, data management, and educational data analytics, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement various regression models and other predictive techniques to analyze student success data and forecast outcomes.
  • Utilize statistical software (R, SAS, SPSS, Stata, or Python) for data analysis and model development.
  • Clean, preprocess, and normalize large datasets to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Apply knowledge of educational metrics, student success theories, and data governance to analyze factors influencing student outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and ethical standards, including FERPA.
  • Use programming languages (Python or R) and machine learning techniques to enhance predictive models.
  • Create and present data visualizations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or ggplot2 in R to effectively communicate findings.
  • Prepare and deliver clear reports and presentations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to apply statistical insights and improve student outcomes.
  • Manage multiple data analysis projects, including planning, tracking progress, and meeting deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, Educational Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and data management within an educational context.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (R, SAS, SPSS, Stata) and programming languages (Python or R).
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning techniques and data visualization tools.
  • Experience in a higher education environment is required.
  • Excellent communication and consultative skills, with the ability to convey complex statistical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations, including FERPA, and a strong ethical framework for handling student data.
