Nuclear Medicine PRN Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine PRN to contribute to the success of HCA Florida West Hospital. As a Nuclear Medicine PRN, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and providing exceptional diagnostic imaging services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a range of routine and specialized Nuclear Medicine studies, including MUGA functional studies, exercise stress tests, pharmacological stress tests, viability, and perfusion studies.
  • Prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic studies, ensuring accurate calculations and adherence to physician direction.
  • Calibrate and perform quality control on equipment in accordance with State regulations and WFH Nuclear Cardiology policy and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of radioisotope receipts, use, storage, and disposal in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Receive verbal orders for examinations from a responsible practitioner in keeping with their state license.
  • Perform diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and produce quality images for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Ensure all exams are entered appropriately, make edits as required, move exam to taken status, and verify for the radiologist to read with all required documents.
  • Arrange, attach, or adjust immobilization and supportive devices to obtain precise position, prevent motion, and aid in patient comfort.
  • Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination, maintaining orderliness and cleanliness.
  • Review patient history to obtain pertinent clinical information.
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards, participate in quality improvement and safety programs, and ensure appropriate recording of hours worked.
  • Attend in-service presentations and complete all mandatory education requirements on or before the due date.
  • Distribute documents to patients and providers as appropriate.
  • Properly document all medications used in the EMAR.
  • Regular, punctual, and dependable attendance.
  • Work and adjust schedule as needed, including on-call coverage to meet the needs of the department.
  • Actively seek ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or services delivered.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the occurrence reporting system and use it to report potential patient safety issues.
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • State of Florida Registered Radiologic Technologist.
  • Associate Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology required.
  • 1 year of experience preferred.
  • ARRT with Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT), or NMTCB.
