Overview
The role involves overseeing the support, management, and optimization of systems and resources under the purview of Logicalis Managed Services. This position requires advanced engineering and support for IBM AIX Servers, IBM Power Server hardware, PowerVM, Virtual I/O Server, IBM i, and PowerHA.
Key Responsibilities
- Possesses a solid understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and adheres to established ITIL incident, problem, and change management protocols while addressing client requests or outages.

- Serves as an escalation point for Tier 2 Administrators, guiding team members in resolving incidents, problems, and change requests while overseeing project activities.
- Collaborates with clients and colleagues in a professional manner to ensure efficient issue resolution.
- Partners with Managed Services architects to create new service offerings.
- Provides training and mentorship to Tier 2 Administrators on emerging technologies and processes.
- Documents technical processes and procedures by writing knowledge base articles as necessary.
- Conducts periodic reviews of the environment and recommends enhancements to services or system resiliency.
- Identifies and reports gaps in customer environments compared to defined service standards, collaborating with Service Delivery Managers (SDMs) to propose improvements.
- Supports escalated issues and coordinates communication among operations staff to resolve complex challenges.
- Manages service outages in conjunction with Service Delivery Managers as needed.
- Identifies opportunities for automation and implements solutions for repetitive tasks.
- Participates in an on-call rotation for the designated technology group.
- Tracks all work hours in the specified systems.
- Continuously seeks to enhance skills and remain informed about new technologies.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Logicalis by embodying the organization's values in daily activities.
- Maintains knowledge of relevant Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations, as well as Logicalis policies and procedures, to ensure compliance and ethical conduct.
- Exhibits customer service excellence in all interactions.

Education and Experience
Education:
- Associate degree in a relevant field.
Experience and Technical Skills
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in:
- IBM AIX
- IBM iSeries
- HMC
- VIO Server
- LPAR
- PowerHA
- Unix/Linux administration
- 5 years of experience with IBM Power Systems servers, IBM AIX & IBM i Operating Systems, Virtual I/O Servers, and External Storage, including implementation, validation, migrations, and support.
Proficient in:
- IBM Power Systems Servers, including configuration and installation of server, storage, network, and fiber connectivity.
- IBM AIX Operating System, including configuration, upgrades, server administration, and operations.
- IBM i Operating System, including configuration, server administration, operations, and support, from current V7R5 to V7R2.
- IBM i Operating System, PTF, CUME upgrade experience.
- Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) configuration, installation, and support.
- IBM Storwize FS7200 support, including IBM Full System Flashcopy (FSFC) Copy Services for IBM i external storage.
- BRMS administration and operations, including experience with Skip the Release Migration for operating system upgrades and server migrations.
- IBM Live Partition Mobility configuration and support.
- PowerHA High Availability and Logical replication solution experience, with Quick-EDD preferred.
- Knowledge of best practices for IBM Power Systems, IBM Virtual I/O, AIX, IBM i Operating System, and BRMS Backup and Retention strategies for data protection, health checks, and upgrade/migration strategies.
- Experience supporting Virtual Tape Library - Dell EMC Data Domain is desirable.
- IBM i Monitoring tools such as HelpSystems, LogicMonitor, and others.
Certifications
- IBM Certifications in AIX Administration, IBM i Administration, and Virtual I/O Administration are highly preferred.
