Role Overview

We are in search of a knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our dedicated EHS team. This role is crucial in supporting our efforts to establish robust health and safety protocols and ensure environmental compliance across our operations. The EHS Specialist will be responsible for managing compliance initiatives, guiding corrective measures, and addressing ongoing environmental and health safety requirements throughout the organization. This position will involve significant interaction with regulatory bodies and will be essential in optimizing our EHS programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the creation and management of information systems for EHS recordkeeping and compliance programs.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental permits and regulatory standards across designated operational areas.
  • Collaborate with external consultants as necessary.
  • Monitor EHS programs and performance metrics to assess compliance and effectiveness.
  • Engage with Safety Action Teams (SATs) at various locations within the assigned region.
  • Evaluate management tools and measurement systems to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Act as a liaison with OSHA and environmental regulators on behalf of the company.
  • Work with properties to address corrective actions and compliance issues.
  • Provide ongoing support for regulatory inquiries across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Review development plans for compliance and permitting considerations.
  • Lead environmental due diligence efforts as required.
  • Perform additional tasks related to environmental and health safety as directed by leadership.
  • Travel may be necessary for specific locations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) sector.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for certain locations.
  • Strong computer proficiency is essential.
  • Demonstrated expertise in indoor air quality, asbestos management, and other industrial hygiene topics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong customer service orientation is vital.
  • High standards of character and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification.
  • Familiarity with federal environmental, health, and safety regulations and permitting processes.
  • Background in engineering or consulting is advantageous.
