Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Jewish Community Center is seeking a dedicated individual to oversee the instruction of sports and recreational programs. This role involves assisting in the organization of special events within the Fitness and Wellness department.

The successful candidate will also support the Early Childhood Education gym program and enrichment classes for children, while exploring new opportunities in sports and recreation for various age groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain comprehensive records and statistics related to sports and leagues programs, including schedules, attendance, and equipment maintenance.
  • Implement and instruct sports and recreation programs tailored for both children and adults.
  • Collaborate with the Sports and Leagues Director to design and launch innovative classes and special events for children.
  • Teach physical education classes and special programs for Early Childhood Education.
  • Develop and manage after-school enrichment programs, such as youth basketball leagues and sports skills classes.
  • Foster positive relationships with members and participants, ensuring effective communication with parents and guardians.
  • Represent the Fitness and Wellness Department at community events and open houses.
  • Coordinate scheduling for the Fitness and Wellness facility and manage equipment usage for various activities.
  • Oversee the procurement of sports equipment and supplies, ensuring proper care and maintenance.
  • Maintain First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications, applying these skills as needed.
  • Work with the maintenance team to ensure the upkeep of fitness equipment and report any safety concerns.
  • Assist in promoting the Fitness and Wellness department and its integration with other community programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with public and private organizations to develop collaborative programs.
  • Engage in various agency-wide activities, remaining knowledgeable about the organization and its offerings.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in a recreational or educational setting.
  • Background in basketball or related sports.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience in scheduling and managing teams, with prior supervisory experience preferred.
