About the Role

Nesco Resource is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in a dynamic and challenging role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Develop and implement optimal, cost-effective designs, manufacturing processes, and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.
  • Process Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to product, production processes, methods, and controls.
  • Project Management: Prioritize project management, process improvement, problem resolution, and employee training.
  • Research and Development: Perform research, design, and development of new and sustaining manufacturing processes and tool design.
  • Process Evaluations: Perform process evaluations, including production flow, assembly methods, and waste elimination.
  • Layout and Design: Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
  • Manufacturing Launch: Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products, including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
  • Tool Design and Development: Design, develop, test, or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Problem Resolution: Provide creative and innovative engineering solutions that aid in the resolution of field and manufacturing problems and in the maintenance and improvement of existing products.
  • Project Monitoring: Implement all phases of project plans and monitor progress per established schedule and budget targets.
  • Customer and Team Relationships: Maintain good relationships with customers, field personnel, and other Valmont departments to ensure the most efficient working environment.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to other departments as required toward meeting the needs of our customers.
  • Product and Process Analysis: Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency improvement.
  • Team Representation: Represent engineering on cross-functional teams.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Three or more years of manufacturing experience.
  • Skills: Strong working knowledge of Auto Cad and/or Solid works, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, and Microsoft Word.
  • Personal Qualities: Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership: Ability to mentor and lead others.
  • Problem-Solving: Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with teammates.
  • Process Improvement: Ability to identify, communicate, and participate in process improvement opportunities (LEAN) aimed at reducing cost, improving efficiencies, and increasing customer satisfaction.
  • Technical Knowledge: Experience with composites, GD&T, material specification, surface finishing requirements, and manufacturing techniques (milling, turning, and welding, surface treatments).
  • Project Management: Previous work experience managing projects.
  • Physical Demands: The employee is occasionally required to move about the office or plant.
  • Decision-Making: There is a certain level of decision-making and analysis that this position requires, although any large decision would be made with the guidance of more senior-level engineers.
