Job Summary

The Psychiatric Aide plays a vital role in the treatment team, providing adjunctive services and implementing therapeutic procedures to support patient care. This position requires a strong understanding of patient needs and the ability to work collaboratively with the treatment team to develop and implement effective treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Orient patients to the hospital setting, rules, and regulations, and provide a safe and supportive environment for their recovery.
  • Provide companionship and social support to patients, facilitating a sense of community and connection.
  • Monitor patients' physical and psychological needs, reporting findings to the charge nurse and contributing to the development of treatment plans.
  • Participate in daily community meetings with the treatment team to set goals and prioritize patient care.
  • Implement training programs to help patients develop self-help skills, such as toileting, feeding, and bathing.
  • Develop and implement adjunctive services, including recreational and diversional activities, to promote patient engagement and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, reporting and addressing any safety concerns or hazards.
  • Monitor contraband materials and enforce unit rules and regulations.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of crisis intervention approaches and contribute to the development of patient treatment plans.
