Position Summary:

The Environmental Worker is responsible for ensuring that all patient, office, and ancillary areas of the healthcare facility are maintained in a clean and sanitary state. Key responsibilities include:

1. Keeping all carts and equipment in a clean, organized, and safe manner, ensuring they are not left unattended.
2. Maintaining a tidy appearance in all Environmental Services storage areas.
3. Ensuring adequate supplies of paper and soap are available in all hospital locations.
4. Cleaning and disinfecting all precaution rooms in line with infection control protocols.
5. Collecting waste in designated areas and transporting it to a central location for disposal.
6. Performing floor stripping and refinishing, carpet and upholstery shampooing, wall and window washing, and moving furniture/equipment as required.
7. Assisting with snow removal tasks as assigned.
8. Responding promptly to Environmental Services pages when assigned.
9. Participating in scheduled training programs provided by the organization.
10. Reporting maintenance issues or damages to the Supervisor.
11. Maintaining a positive and productive attitude throughout the workday.
12. Collecting trash and soiled linens in assigned areas.
13. Disposing of needle/glove boxes, chemotherapy containers, and soiled equipment from patient rooms to the designated utility area.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Familiarity with hospital policies and procedures.
3. Proficient reading and writing skills at a high school level.
4. Ability to lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds.
5. Commitment to maintaining personal hygiene standards.
6. Demonstrated courteous and service-oriented attitude throughout the workday.
7. Capability to work in a standing position and fulfill assigned duties for the entire shift.
8. Ability to uphold confidentiality, particularly concerning patient information.
