POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the guidance of the Laboratory Director, the Laboratory Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing personnel, equipment, resources, and testing protocols within the laboratory environment. This role involves compiling quality assurance statistics and participating in departmental meetings as directed by the Laboratory Director. The Supervisor is responsible for managing training and educational initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and updating laboratory procedures in accordance with the latest regulations. Additionally, the Supervisor will conduct competency assessments, revise proficiency testing, and assist in data entry for proficiency testing results. This position also includes providing technical support to physicians regarding laboratory testing and evaluating new technologies as needed.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the primary area of responsibility, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or the American Medical Technologists (AMT) is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in written communication, including drafting departmental procedures and emails, as well as expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel. The ability to troubleshoot and instruct others on laboratory software is essential.
