Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in Labor and Delivery. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the operating room suite, including cleaning and sterilization of equipment.
  • Participate in the care and cleaning of operating room equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
  • Provide instrumentation and assist the surgeon during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile field.
  • Perform patient care within the scope of training and under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Prepare patients, equipment, and operating rooms for each procedure/surgery.
  • Maintain a clean and safe operating room suite for surgical patients.
  • Perform intra-operative management of assigned procedures and anticipate needs of the surgeon.
  • Assist the circulating nurse in maintaining correct instrument counts.
  • Be responsible for supply and equipment management, including determining needs, ensuring availability, and maintaining equipment through proper sterilization.
Requirements
  • 3 years of recent experience as a Surgical Technician with demonstrated competency in multiple inpatient surgical specialties, including General, Orthopedics, Neurology, and Plastics.
  • OB/GYN surgical procedures experience preferred.
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program and successful completion of the certification exam.
  • Surgical Technologist certification from a recognized organization, such as the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or the National Center for Competency Testing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy.
